Abstract

Augmented Reality (AR) technology in Early Childhood Education (ECE) is gaining attention as an innovative and interactive learning method. However, the involvement of parents in supporting the use of AR at home is still rarely discussed in depth, even though the role of parents is very important in maximizing children's learning experience. As one of the findings states parental involvement has also been shown to increase children's learning effectiveness, where they are better able to understand learning concepts and can relate them to everyday experiences, such as recognizing colors, shapes, or numbers. Thus, this study aims to examine parental involvement in the use of AR for early childhood at home, focusing on perceptions, challenges, benefits, and impact on children's interest in learning based on several findings from the literature review with a descriptive analysis approach. The results of this study aim to provide insights into the role of parents as facilitators of AR- based learning at home using strategies found from several studies. This research will also identify factors that support and hinder the effective use of AR in the home environment, so that it can be a guide for AR application developers and educational practitioners. © 2026 American Institute of Physics Inc..
