A lecturer has power in class interactions to control the class, but students resist power. This research aims to reveal the power dynamics and negotiations between a lecturer and students in classroom interactions. The study employs a qualitative method. The primary sources in this study were 40 undergraduate fifth-semester students. The study employed a purposive sampling approach. The data was collected from September to December 2023 within a specific time frame. The data was gathered from recordings of classroom interactions between the lecturer and students. These sources were transcribed and analyzed using Van Dijk's text analysis framework. The findings revealed that students dominate power at the macro and superstructure levels. In the microstructure, the lecturer and students negotiate power in classroom interactions, resulting in power equality. This study demonstrated that individuals can exercise power through language use, unnecessarily considering social backgrounds, and that power dynamics can have positive effects. © 2024 Syahriani, Supriadi, Mustafa, Saifullah, Riski, and Mubarok.
