This study addresses the critical need for innovative tools to make Sundanese language learning engaging and effective for early childhood education (PAUD) in Indonesia, where the use of regional languages is declining despite their vital role in cultural identity and cognitive development. Employing a Design and Development Research (DDR) approach within the ADDIE framework (Analysis, Design, Development), this research first conducted a comprehensive needs analysis through observations and in-depth interviews at three PAUD institutions in Bandung Raya. The findings revealed a significant gap, confirming a strong demand for culturally grounded, interactive digital media to support the existing Kamis Nyunda program, as current methods remain traditional and lack engaging digital support. Informed by this analysis, an interactive application prototype was systematically designed and developed. The prototype integrates child-friendly visuals featuring Sundanese cultural elements, clear Sundanese audio narration, and interactive games structured around a consistent pedagogical sequence: Ngawih (Songs) → Materi (Materials) → Kaulinan (Games). This design aligns with constructivist learning theories and early childhood developmental needs. The prototype's validity was rigorously assessed by two independent experts in educational technology and Sundanese language/culture using a structured validation instrument covering content, design, pedagogy, and interactivity. Expert validation yielded an excellent overall score of 92.5, with high ratings for content suitability, pedagogical alignment, and interface design. Qualitative feedback from experts was instrumental, leading to specific refinements such as enhancing audio clarity and adding more nuanced interactive prompts. The study successfully designed and validated a prototype for a Sundanese digital learning application, providing a model for developing culturally responsive educational technology that bridges the gap between global digital tools and local linguistic heritage. Future work will involve implementation in classroom settings to evaluate its practical efficacy on children's language acquisition and cultural engagement.
