This study explores the perspectives of Generation Z on environmental responsibility in tourism and hospitality careers. Sustainable tourism development relies on cooperation among various stakeholders, including employees, local communities, and organizations. As the newest generation entering the workforce, Generation Z's views on sustainability are essential for fostering responsible tourism practices. The research, conducted in Indonesia, used online focus group discussions with 20 participants, comprising students and early-career professionals. The study reveals two main themes: ‘Internalization of Environmental Responsibility’, where Generation Z shows a growing understanding and engagement with sustainability issues, and ‘Perceived Corporate Responsibility’, where they expect companies to implement and guide these efforts. © 2025 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group.
