The Coronavirus Disease in December 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic continued to spread to the whole world. On 12 March 2020, President Rodrigo Duterte announced the monthlong lockdown of the entire Metro Manila from 15 March to 14 April 2020. Within this period, vehicles traveling include land, air and sea to and from Metro Manila were suspended, followed by social and religious events involving mass gatherings. Conferences, seminars, and related events were also postponed and people were told to stay home. The government was merely following the usual procedure, such as the implementation of thermal screening at airports to detect arrivals with flu. The COVID 19 was not of great importance for most ordinary people in the Philippines, but the lockdown has both the downsides and the upsides. It has affected the economic, social, and psychological aspects. Needless to say, a tragedy or misfortune to a place or individual may be an advantage for others. Therefore, the economic, social, and ecological aspects have been seen as favorable and beneficial opportunity during this lockdown. We have also learned the value of compassion and empathy during this crisis. This COVID-19 prompted the Philippines to unite to resolve the crisis. ‘Bayanihan’ value encourages people to fight the negative and undesirable things in the community and finding the opportunity which can be used and developed. © 2024 by Nova Science Publishers, Inc.
