The goal of this study is to examine student learning difficulties associated with mathematical literacy challenges. SLR (Systematic Literature Review) is the method employed. This analysis included ten publications published in national and international journals and proceedings between 2022 and 2023. The main question in this study is how the description of student learning hurdles relates to mathematical literacy challenges in terms of publication media, research location, education level, sample size, content, and study findings. Through the SLR method, the results show that the publication of the most requested articles 3, scopus indexed proceedings and OJS and the majority on the island of Java. The level of education that is of much concern is the junior high school level with the majority of research sample sizes being small (1-10) and the most material is on quantity material. The results of this literature review are found ontogeny, epistemology and didactic learning barriers in students related to mathematical literacy, such as lack of confidence in answering the problems given, confused about what kind of answer to the problem posed and not understanding the prerequisite material for a material, difficult to write and relate the information obtained with the concepts that have been learned and difficult to perform precise calculations, and a one-way learning process and incomplete delivery of material from the teacher. © 2026 American Institute of Physics Inc..
