This study aimed to develop an interactive multimedia based on Problem Posing Approach which was valid and practical to improve students’ mathematical problem-solving abilities. This study applied the ADDIE model (Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation), and Adobe Flash CS6 software was utilized for developing the media. The subjects in this study were 36 grade VII students of SMP Negeri 6 Pekanbaru, experts, and teachers. The instruments used in this study were a math test in the form of essay and non-test instruments such as validation sheets and practicality questionnaires. The test was administered to measure the students’ mathematical problem-solving ability, while the non-test instruments were used to measure the validity of the learning media and the effectiveness of the learning. Data in this study were analyzed through descriptive statistical analysis and n-gain. Results of this study found that the learning media based on Problem Posing approach was very valid with a percentage of 91.09% and very practical with a percentage of 88.55%. This study also revealed that the average score of students’ mathematical problem-solving abilities increased from 45.34 (in the pretest score) to 71.67 (in the posttest). Thus, this study suggested that the interactive multimedia which was developed based on Problem Posing approach was feasible to be used as a learning media because it fulfilled the criteria of validity (very valid) and practicality (very practical). This media was proved to be able to enhance students’ mathematical problem-solving abilities. © 2026 American Institute of Physics Inc.. All rights reserved.
