Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has influenced several areas, one of which is transportation, specifically public transportation. This affected captive groups or public transport users, especially public transportation cars, as city transportation. The purpose of this study is to investigate public transportation problems during the pandemic and find out community responses in West Java regarding the idea of modifying urban transport. The method used is a quantitative method based on the questionnaire. The results showed how the transportation system of urban transport was not yet effective enough to prevent COVID-19 exposure at the moment. Respondents support the idea of the modification of urban transport as a solution with affordable fees and minimal modification costs. Respondents also approved the use of electricity as a fuel for urban transport and encouraged the government to execute the idea of a modification of city transportation. © 2024 by Nova Science Publishers, Inc.
