This research states that STEM is learning in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics that can affect students' interest in mastering and having a career in STEM itself. Considering the high need for human resources who master the STEM field, changes in Education are necessary. This STEM education emphasizes problem-solving design as is done by experts in solving problems in everyday life that are not yet familiar to be applied in the learning process at school. This theoretical study obtained a learning model that can interpret the principles in STEM, namely Project Based Learning (PjBL), one of the recommended learning models in 21st-century Education. In simple terms, PjBL includes learning as a constructive, independent, collaborative process and contextual. In PjBL, there are at least three essential characteristics: the problem as a learning stimulus, the teacher as a facilitator, and the group as a stimulus for interaction between students. Project-Based Learning develops cognitive abilities in the STEM field. However, there are other indirectly trained skills, namely students' critical thinking skills, which are also included in the primary skills that must be possessed to improve the quality of Education. © 2023 American Institute of Physics Inc..
