Abstract

This study aims to analyze the evolution of research on digital technology in elementary education between 2012 and 2022 through the bibliometric computational mapping analysis method using VOSviewer. The Publish or Perish software was utilised to gather publications from Google Scholar-indexed journals. The search and filtering process resulted in 394 articles included in the analysis stage. The analysis results showed that the number of publications on this topic fluctuated slightly between 2012 and 2018, with an average number of publications of around 28. Then the number of publications increased in the next three years (2019, 2020, and 2021), reaching 74, 42, and 56, respectively, before declining to 29 in September 2022. The analysis of the co-occurrence of keywords resulted in 174 terms being selected and grouped into seven clusters. The network and density visualizations show several keywords with the most occurrences, namely, technology, primary school, teacher, use, and science. This finding denotes that many studies have been conducted related to these keywords. In addition, the overlay visualization depicts several keywords that have been trending in recent years, such as mobile technology, STEM, critical thinking, perspective, COVID, and access. This finding indicates that researchers have recently been focusing on these topics. © School of Engineering, Taylor’s University.
