Cu2ZnSnS4 (CZTS) material was developed into one of the most attractive absorber materials in thin-film solar cell applications. The reason is that CZTS materials provide excellent absorber properties with additional benefits, including material abundance, non-toxicity, and low-cost constituents. However, the instability of the CZTS material during the sulfurization process, which leads to adverse products such as secondary phase and poor crystal growth, remains a big problem that must be overcome. In this work, the investigation of sulfurization time impact on the crystal growth of CZTS materials and related secondary phases was carried out. First, solution-based processing using the spin-coating method was carried out to deposition the CZTS precursor film. The CZTS precursor film was then sulfurized at 550°C at various times of 2, 5, and 8 min. The results showed that the sulfurization process for 8 minutes produced the most homogeneous morphology with relatively larger grain sizes than other samples. © 2023 Author(s).
