Journal writing is an approach to writing for learning. In journal writing students write their reflections on the learning material that the previous teacher delivered. The use of journal writing aims to determine the relationship with students german cognitive load (GCL) in learning the reproduction system. This study a true experimental design method. The research design used the randomized post-test only control group design. The subjects in this study consisted of 30 students of class XI MIPA for the 2020/2021 academic year who had participated in learning the reproductive system. Data collection was carried out qualitatively. Qualitative data were obtained through questionnaires. The results showed that writing journal writing made students try harder to understand the reproduction system material. © 2022 American Institute of Physics Inc.. All rights reserved.
