Micro hydro is one of the renewable energy options in power plant; however, the multi criteria decision making (MCDM) of the site selection appears to be an obstacle. This study aims to implement geographical information system (GIS) and analytic hierarchy process (AHP) in selecting a site of micro hydro power plant (MHPP) as both approaches seemed to promote newly comprehensive features in making decisions from several complicated criteria. Both GIS and AHP were implemented to select the most effective site alternatives in micro hydro power plant. The results showed that the geospatial sensing technology in GIS was effective and the results of the AHP was consistent indicating good results and validity of site standardization of MHPP. Therefore, of all the three proposed locations, the results for the best site reflected by the GIS and AHP are considered valid. © School of Engineering, Taylor’s University.
