This chapter aims to investigate Energy Dispersive X-Ray Spectroscopy (EDS or EDX or EDAX) as a method for characterizing calcium carbonate (CaCO3). The review was carried out using the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method of 5 published literature from 2012 to 2022. The characterization capability is largely due to the basic principle that each element has a unique atomic structure that allows a unique series of peaks in its electromagnetic emission spectrum which is the main principle of spectroscopy. The results of the study show that the characterization of CaCO3 with EDS is accurate enough to determine the chemical elemental of the material because it can provide information on elemental composition both qualitatively and quantitatively. Most are known to contain calcium, oxygen, and carbon, with a small variety of other chemical elements. This research is expected to contribute to the application of CaCO3 in the fields of health, agriculture, mining, industry, and the environment. © 2023 by Nova Science Publishers, Inc.
