This chapter presents the green strategies that can be considered for implementing the waste-to-energy (WtE) project at the municipal level. The sustainability framework of WtE implementation from the appropriate waste processing technologies and waste collection and transportation is assessed and explored in a complex and structured discussion. The lesson learned from the successful implementation of WtE in the cities will help others do the same things and even create better waste and energy management by taking the case of WtE project implementation in some countries. Firstly, it assesses the green strategies for choosing appropriate waste processing technologies. Second, the chapter discusses green strategy in managing waste collection and transportation as part of the WtE project implementation. Finally, the chapter summarizes the country-level performances of the WtE project. © 2023 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.
