Abstract

This study aims to describe the development process of the interactive multimedia Zuma Function, created using Scratch programming for mathematics education, through a Research and Development (R&D) approach employing the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). The participants for the classroom implementation were 33 eighth-grade students from a public junior high school in Bandung. A needs analysis conducted through interviews revealed that the use of multimedia in mathematics learning was still limited. Zuma Function was designed as a learning tool to make the concept of functions more concrete and accessible. Expert validation was conducted by two mathematics education experts, and a user acceptance test (UAT) was carried out with 35 mathematics education students from a university in Bandung. The validation results showed scores of 81% for material, 83% for multimedia, and 85% for user acceptance, all categorized as feasible. The implementation phase indicated a statistically significant improvement in student learning outcomes based on the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test (p < 0.001), with an average n-gain of 0.55, classified as moderate effectiveness. Questionnaire results demonstrated positive student responses (over 80%), indicating that Zuma Function was engaging, easy to use, and effective in enhancing motivation and conceptual understanding. © 2025 Copyright held by the owner/author(s).
