Abstract

This study aims to systematically analyze the current state of research related to mathematical learning design in STEM. A systematic review was conducted to identify, critically evaluate, and summarize all relevant findings of studies describing Mathematics learning design in STEM. The literatures were search through Scopus, Sage, and Eric databases then 33 articles were included in the review. Results show that majority of research studies were undertaken in United States, with a focus on secondary level of education. Most study were carried out in the domain of Arithmetic, Geometry, and Algebra. The teaching model dominantly implemented through STEM were project-based learning, educational robotic, technology integration, and game-based learning. Mathematics learning outcome reported dominantly were problem solving and mathematical understanding. Overall, the results indicate that further studies are needed on STEM implementation in higher education on algebra topics using technology-based project. Previous research had not revealed specifically trend in mathematics learning design in STEM. Mathematics education researchers and educators could expand research areas and enrich the context of mathematics learning based on the findings of the latest research. © 2026 American Institute of Physics Inc..
