Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to assess the construct validity and test reliability of a newly developed instrument, namely Key Competencies for Sustainability. The instrument consists of 75 items representing eight competencies: systems thinking, anticipatory skills, normative skills, strategic thinking, collaboration, critical thinking, self-awareness, and integrated problem-solving. This instrument is implemented to undergraduate students in the study programme at Universitas Pendidikan Muhamadiyah (UNIMUDA) Sorong. The Rasch model is utilized to examine the validity and reliability of the items. The polarity item analysis indicated that the point measure correlation (PTMEA CORR) for the 75 items of Key Competencies for Sustainability ranges from 0.31 to 0.67. Findings from the Summary Statistics revealed that the item reliability and item separation for Key Competencies for Sustainability were 0.90 and 3.05, respectively. Meanwhile, for diagnostic person reliability and person separation, the values were 0.87 and 3.80, respectively. Regarding item fit, the results showed that the fit for the 75 items of Key Competencies for Sustainability ranged between 0.6 and 1.5. These findings suggested that the Key Competencies for Sustainability instrument demonstrated satisfactory validity and reliability based on the Rasch model analysis. The correlation values, reliability measures, and fit indices collectively supported the robustness of the instrument in assessing the specified competencies among undergraduate students in the studied program at UNIMUDA Sorong. © 2026 Author(s).
