This cross-sectional study aims to analyse the conception of soils owned by science teachers, pre-service teachers and high school students. The instrument is an open question which is distributed through an online questionnaire. The research subjects involved were 278 with the proportion consisting of science teachers (82), pre-service science teachers (109), and high school students (82). The results of the study showed that science teachers gave rise to the most concepts, then there was a decrease in the number of concepts for pre-service science teachers and finally high school students. The concept of "mineral" as the highest concept was put forward by science teachers, in pre-service science teachers the concepts of "mineral" and "earth" appeared the highest, while in high school students the concept of "plants" was the highest. These results indicate that the higher the education level, the more important concepts that can be raised about the conception of soils. This is because science teachers who have received undergraduate education have learned more about concepts related to soil, either in theoretical or practical lectures. The research implication provides some opportunities for teachers to teach students not only essential material, but also advanced material related to the concept of soil. © School of Engineering, Taylor's University
