The novelty of this study is to explore exclamatory sentences in Sundanese as a local Indonesian language. The current study reports on descriptive analysis of interpersonal meaning through exclamatory sentences in the corpus of Sundanese. To get a specialized corpus, it is collated from the online articles served by the Sundanese web. The articles are downloaded from 2011-2021 about a half of million tokens with various genres. Keywords, frequencies, collocations, concordance lines, and consistencies are applied to discover the distribution of Sundanese exclamatory sentences through the AntConc tool. Further, the interpretation and analysis are used to identify the findings viewed from functional typology (Caffarel, Martin, & Matthiessen, 2004; Martin, 1990). The results show that the words meuni ‘such' can be indicated as Sundanese exclamatory words and mostly collocated by an adjective with interjection and other components. Structurally, it can be constructed through declarative with AEC and the what-a exclamation formulations (Michaelis & Lambrecht, 1996) but nevertheless, functionally, it has a similar purpose in expressing speakers' feelings in interpersonal communication. The conclusion shows that Sundanese exclamatory sentences are typologically the same as previous studies and supported by Martin's (1990)'s framework in adapting Sundanese basic Mood based on the functional lens. © 2021 Cognizance Research Associates - Published by JLLS.
