This study aimed to develop CommuAutism, an Android-based application designed to identify and assess the communication skills of children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The assessment instruments integrated verbal behavior (VB) and functional communication assessments with specific modifications. This research employed a design-based research (DBR) approach, encompassing the stages of analysis, design, development, and evaluation. The findings indicated that teachers could effectively utilize CommuAutism for digital assessment. Limited trials demonstrated that the application supports interventions for autistic children due to its user-friendly and systematic interface, allowing teachers to easily follow each assessment step. As a result, this application serves as a foundation for developing communication intervention programs and supporting learning for autistic children in schools. © School of Engineering, Taylor’s University.
