Abstract

Every citizen has equal rights in the learning process. Including for people with visual impairments, they have the same opportunity to gain knowledge with all limitations. As we know, Braille is used as a medium to obtain information and communicate with others. Currently, there are several supporters of Braille learning media that use computer technology. This study aims to create a one-touch application that can help visually impaired people to learn and communicate with one interactive application display. The interactive aspect here presents a single display that makes it easy for them to interact using braille letters inputted through the buttons available on the touch layer of the device. This application uses a Smartphone as the main device with a Virtual Braille Keyboard (VBK) design as input from the combination of braille dots for writing. This application can be run the latest android Operating System and has minimal specifications that can run on the Marshmallow operating system. Developed using the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) method and Blackbox testing this research focuses on developing applications that can help the visually impaired to use touch-layer devices to communicate so that it can help them in learning and communicating. The results of the Blackbox presentation show that the application developed runs normally and can be used for visually impaired students or general students as a medium for learning braille. © 2025 Author(s).
