Abstract

Wellness tourism offers significant development potential supported by diverse natural, cultural, and historical resources. Ensuring its sustainability requires active stakeholder involvement across planning, management, and development processes. This study adopts a systematic literature review approach by analysing English-language scholarly articles indexed in the Scopus and ScienceDirect databases published between 2014 and 2026, selected using predefined inclusion and exclusion criteria. The review highlights the critical role of stakeholder collaboration in aligning the interests of tourism managers and key actors, including government, the private sector, local communities, media, academics, and professional associations. Existing wellness tourism research largely emphasises product development and tourist satisfaction using quantitative or qualitative methods, while integrative stakeholder collaboration perspectives for sustainability remain underexplored. © 2026 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group.
