Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) is essential for attaining Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals requires well-educated persons with knowledge, skills, values, and a sustainable mindset, which may be attained through a quality education program. Therefore, ESD is one of the seventeen goals and a way to achieve the other goals. Due to the lack of teachers with ESD backgrounds, science teachers need to develop strategies to integrate ESD into a science lesson. This research attempts to investigate the readiness of science teachers to teach ESD by using Rasch Analysis. This study used a non-experimental quantitative research design. Data were gathered from a sample of 219 science teachers. Descriptive quantitative analysis (mean and deviation standard) and Rasch analysis (Wright person logit map) were used to assess science teachers' readiness to teach ESD. The results show that most teachers are not ready to teach ESD in all competencies except attitude and professional development. There are 6.39% (level 6), 5.02% (level 5), 37.44% (level 4), 41.10% (level 3), 8.22% (level 2), and 1.83 % (level 1) science teachers are categorized as teaching readiness (logit mean=1.84 and deviation standard=2.97). The readiness of science teachers to teach ESD was not determined by teaching experience, gender, educational background, or teaching area. All science teachers need competency improvement in teaching ESD. Since school subjects are traditionally content mastery-oriented while ESD is more action-oriented, a shift in the education paradigm from content-oriented toward action-oriented is needed. © 2025 Author(s).
