This study examines financial data governance in the fintech era by linking digital sovereignty, gender inequality, and consumer protection in emerging economies. Fintech is understood not only as a tool of financial inclusion but also as a datafied infrastructure that transforms transactions, identities, and behaviors into governable and monetizable assets. The discussion shows how platform power, cross-border data dependence, and algorithmic decision-making reshape state authority and deepen user vulnerability, especially for women and digitally less literate groups. It also highlights how opaque credit scoring, weak accountability, and limited regulatory capacity may reproduce exclusion under the language of innovation. A more inclusive governance framework therefore requires data justice, algorithmic accountability, secure interoperability, and stronger consumer protection. © 2026 by IGI Global Scientific Publishing.
