The developers encountered numerous problems in the parking area, which prompted the implementation of various preventive and corrective measures. The increasing number of vehicles and limited space have led to security and comfort issues in the parking area. While the current manual parking regulation system offers a potential solution, it also gives rise to new concerns, including human resource challenges and the inability to monitor all parking activities effectively. Consequently, there is a pressing need for an efficient, automated parking monitoring and control system with sufficient training capabilities. In this study, we have experimented with the development of a prototype parking system using Arduino Mega and Visual Basic. The aim was to create a parking system that effectively identifies vehicles using RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) and maintains a comprehensive parking history list, enabling the identification of all vehicle entry and exit activities. Additionally, the prototype includes an LDR (Light Dependent Resistance) device that provides real-time information about occupied and vacant parking spaces. This feature helps operators and drivers determine available parking spaces before entering the parking area. The facilities in this prototype have undergone thorough testing, replicating real activities that occur in actual parking areas. As a result, we can confidently assert that this prototype serves as a valuable reference for implementation in real-world parking areas. © 2025 Author(s).
